Tata is all set to launch Tiago and Tigor CNG, Tata becomes third carmaker to introduce factory fitted CNG after Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai. Tata's competitors like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are offering CNG as a option with there entry level cars. As fuel price is hovering around Rs 100, CNG is been effective alternate to the petrol. CNG sales have improved over the years for Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai is also gearing up and Tata also wants to contribute in this CNG game.
Tata has not come up with official dates about when will they launch the Tigor and Tiago CNG models but they have commenced bookings for the same. You can book one of the CNG model at nearest Tata dealership, you have to pay a booking amount. Booking amount will vary dealer to dealer, Rs 10k-20k will be range, you can contact nearest Tata dealer to get exact booking amount.
Tata Tiago & Tigor CNG details:
Both the cars will get the same 1.2L Naturally Aspirated petrol engine which produces 86hp and 113Nm of torque. Though with CNG the torque and power will be slightly less when compared to pure petrol model. It will be available with manual gearbox option only.
There will be no changes to car from interior or exterior. As we know that petrol models come with good features and most important is the safety that Tata has provided. The CNG model will offer same features as regular petrol model but we don't know what trims will be provided with CNG model.
Soon after when Tata teased Tiago CNG, few images about Tiago CNG got leaked on the internet. The first photo shows the boot on the Tiago with CNG cylinder, by the picture we think the cylinder is occupying entire boot, we guess boot space is close to nil.
Some other images where leaked from Tata dealer's stockyard. All thanks to RushLane for those images. The images show that there is no major changes to the exterior design, the one change we can see is the i-CNG badge on the boot lid of the vehicle.
As mentioned above that there are only 2 carmakers who provide CNG option in the market. That means Tiago will compete with Maruti Wagon R CNG and Hyundai Santro CNG.
Tigor will rival the Hyundai Aura CNG and upcoming Maruti Suzuki Dzire CNG.
